Whether walking alone through the deep rural wilderness of the Suffolk and Norfolk borderlands, or driving the winding country roads of West Virginia after dark - you would do well to keep moving. The dreaded Black Shuck prowls the marshes and coastal paths of East Anglia. And somewhere above the Ohio River valley, something with glowing red eyes and vast dark wings is already watching your headlights.

The Cryptids Two-Deck Set brings together both decks in the A. Haines Cryptids
collection - Black Shuck and Mothman - as a perfectly matched pair at a special
bundle price.

The spectral hound of the East Anglian borderlands makes his fiery appearance in bold black and red. The tuckbox is printed inside and out on soft matte card stock in a woodblock print style inspired by the broadsheets and pamphlets of the 16th century that first documented Shuck's terrifying appearance - complete with a custom stamp sticker seal. The card backs are intricate and entirely hand-drawn, a traditional two-way monochrome pattern rich with Shuck iconography, with modern details that look spectacular in a fan or spread. The Ace of Spades depicts Black Shuck as he first appeared during the storm at St. Mary's Church, Bungay, in 1577. The two Jokers form a diptych - place them side by side to reveal the beast in full.

The winged terror of Point Pleasant completes the set in deep red and black - inverted colours that perfectly complement the Shuck deck. The same woodblock print aesthetic, the same soft matte tuckbox quality, but unmistakably Mothman - from the custom Ace of Spades featuring those infamous glowing red eyes, to the Joker diptych revealing the creature in full flight when the two cards are placed together.

Both decks share a cohesive visual identity - matching intricate hand-drawn back patterns in complementary colourways, unique court cards derived from ancient British one-way playing card faces redrawn into perfectly symmetrical two-way designs, chunky antique pips, refined indices and aged paper tones throughout. Hearts and diamonds feature a two-tone 50/50 pip - a nod to the celebrated decks of a bygone era. Each deck retains its own distinct mythology and identity while together forming a perfectly coherent matched set.

The gilded versions of both decks feature edge gilding that catches the light when the deck is squared - Black Shuck in deep black, as dark as the fur on Shuck's back and the stormy night of 1577. Mothman in a smooth, almost matte red - reminiscent of the creature's burning red eyes. A striking pair displayed together.

Everything in both decks is drawn entirely by hand on a Wacom pen and tablet - as close as possible to traditional illustration while embracing modern print technology. No AI. No stock artwork. No shortcuts. Custom enough to be collectable, standard enough to be usable - in every hand, every fan, every shuffle.
